Alex in Wonderland

Ribbons of teeth-edged skin silk

Tears run like blood over burning skin

When sense explodes into nonsense

I know I’ve lost grip on the mundane.

My heart hurts and my face is bruised,

Dirtied and rouged

Lashings of brain milk pouring down.

Cat on my chest warming the wound

Counting the minutes since

My last shred of faith dissolved

And I became beautifully numb

She is an elven princess trapped

In the body of a cat.

Opened my eyes on the ground and my first thought was

“You have done this to me”

Those Vitamins you gave me were really

Tranks. You’re the one sleeping around, not me.

I am pure pain and paranoia

Trapped in a box of knives without windows

Setting it down, though the words wriggle

Like live maggots on the page

Seems to be the only way to feel

Less than lost. More than loss.

Cat sits on my chest like a warm loaf of bread,

Vibrating. Stripes heavy on my heart

This is a circular story

This is where my heart comes to break

This is where humility is born

This is where the gentle arms of the absurd

Rock me in a forever embrace

She is an elven princess

Trapped in the body of a cat.
